Gary Rowland, age 46, of Rochelle, IL, formerly of Elburn, passed away on October 29, 2017. He was born in Aurora, IL, on October 18, 1971. Gary grew up in Elburn and attended local schools. He played football and graduated from Kaneland High School with the class of 1989. Gary was united in marriage to Heather J. Cassidy on October 23, 1999. They were blessed with a daughter, Paige, in 2002. They made their home in Kaneville, IL, and later moved to Rochelle, IL. Though they would later take different paths, Gary and Heather never strayed away from their love and dedication of Paige. Gary worked for Pan American Seed for several years before becoming a member of the grounds crew at River Heights Country Club. Most recently, he lent his landscaping talents to the Aurora Northern Academy. Gary loved to work outdoors, but he loved to play there too. Fishing was his favorite, as well as taking his daughter to Lake Sule. The two combined the best of both worlds. When he wasn’t outside, Gary kept his hands busy working on cars, especially his prized blue 1978 Chevy Malibu Classic. It quickly became his nemesis with neither of them willing to give any ground. The time he spent with Paige, along with his nieces and nephews, was the highlight of his life.
He is survived by his parents, Gary Rowland and Linda Wright; a brother, Ed Rowland (Shannon Van Tassel); his daughter, Paige, and her mother Heather Rowland; two nieces, Emily Rowland and Mikayla Rowland; two nephews, Jacob Rowland and Michael Yankle Jr; one grandmother, Dorothy Wright; an aunt, Virginia “Anne” Glass; one uncle, Larry Wright and a family of friends.
A family led visitation to celebrate his memory will be held at the Kaneville United Methodist Church, 46W764 Main St. Rd., Kaneville, IL, from 1-4 p.m., Saturday, November 18, 2017. .
