Jeannette Wright

JEANNETTE WRIGHT, age 87, of Hinckley, passed from this life to eternal life on Wednesday evening, November 9, 2011 at Franklin Grove Nursing Center in Franklin Grove, where she had recently made her home. BORN: She was born November 11, 1923, the daughter of Lewis and Rae (Finkel) Farley in Princeton, IL.EARLY YEARS:Jeannette grew up in Bradford, IL, and attended local schools. She graduated in 1941, not only with a diploma, but with the heart of her future husband, Donald Wright, as well. MARRIAGE: On March 8, 1945, Jeannette was united in marriage to Donald in a double ceremony with her brother, Francis and Norma (Johnson) Farley at the Kaneville United Methodist Church. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They farmed briefly in Bradford before renting the Terrill Farm on Scott Road, near Kaneville. They remained there for ten years and were blessed with three children: Janice, Gary and Joan. Moving then to Sugar Grove, they farmed the Alexander Farm on Prairie Road where their fourth child, Susanne, was born. Eight years later, they moved to Big Rock where they lived on the O’Brien Farm on Jericho Road. In 1973, the Waldee Farm on Shabbona Grove Road, near Waterman, became home and they continued there until 1988 when Donald and Jeannette moved to town and settled in Hinckley where she continued to live following Donald’s passing in 2008. Later, when her health began to decline, she moved to be near her daughter in Franklin Grove, IL. MEMBERSHIPS: She was a faithful member of the Methodist Church, including Boyd’s Grove, Kaneville, Waterman and the Hinckley First United Methodist Church. In Kaneville, she was member of the La Kelvine Club, was a Sunday School teacher and Sunday School Superintendent. Jeannette also was a member of the Indian Oaks Country Club in Shabbona where she and Don loved to have hours of fun, one tee shot at a time. As the girls grew up, Jeannette became involved in 4-H. Later, after being "kicked out" of the young adults card club because she was no longer "young", Jeannette dealt cards for the next forty years in the 500 Card Club, which she established with her friends. LIFE NOTES: Jeannette was a devoted and loving wife and mother. She was the quintessential "farmer’s wife" whose talents in the kitchen kept her family and friends well fed with everything good under the sun. Those recipes were gold and have now become priceless as they have been passed down to not only family, but lucky friends who have taken her legacy and shared it with the next generation. In later years, there was nothing she loved more than to make cookies with her grandchildren and they loved nothing more than to eat them, especially her snickerdoodles! Jeannette’s hands were never idle as she sewed many of her and her children’s clothes, crocheted and made the warmest quilts, each one made with love in every stitch. She also had an incredibly green thumb both inside and outside of the house. There was nothing she couldn’t grow. It was these and thousands of other memories that made her so beloved. Jeannette will never be forgotten. SURVIVORS: She is survived by four children:Janice (John) Carnes of Franklin Grove, IL, Gary (Mary) Wright of Urbana, IL, Joan (William) Dorion of Hinckley, IL and Susanne (Mark) Whitt; four grandchildren:Nicole Dorion of Louisville, KY, Ashley Dorion of Fulton, MO, Caitlyn Whitt of Hinckley, IL, and Dylan Whitt, also of Hinckley, IL one sister, Jean (Hank) Greenstreet of Oswego, IL andone sister-in-law, Norma Farley of Aurora, IL, as well as several nieces and nephews and a lifetime of friends.PRECEDED:She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Donald, her brother, Francis Farley, her sister Debbie Moffitt and her brother-in-law, Everett Moffitt. VISITATION / FUNERAL Visitation will be from 4-6:30 p.m., Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Hinckley First United Methodist Church, 801 N. Sycamore St., in Hinckley, IL. A service to celebrate her life will follow visitation at 7 p.m. Rev. Laura Crites, pastor of the church, will officiate with private family burial to follow at a later date.
