KARLA MARIE NASH

Date of Birth

October 27, 1947

Date of Death

September 2, 2023

Karla Marie Nash, age 75, passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023. After a courageous 18 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease and its relentless progression, Karla is finally at rest and no longer having her vitality slowly taken away.

Her last few years have been exceedingly difficult, most especially losing her love of cooking/baking and dancing to Rock and Roll was a blow that she found so very disappointing. After 37 years of living on their small farm in Sandwich, IL, Karla would still look at it while rolling into the driveway and say, “I can’t believe we live here in this beautiful place!”. Her highlights of each year at the farm were spring flower planting, hosting the Annual 4th of July picnic, Pumpkin Day, and especially Christmas.

An incredibly dedicated and caring wife and mother, consummate homemaker, wonderful sister, spectacular aunt and grandma, Karla will be sorely missed by all who loved her; particularly by those she worked with in her long career as a secretary and administrative assistant, lastly at Executive Affiliates in Big Rock, IL.

Born in Aurora, IL, in 1947 to Ethel Mae and Jack R. Grizzle, Karla is survived by her devoted husband of 43 years, Michael S. Nash; son Jeffrey (Alexandria) Doyle IL; Corinna (Brice) Reid CO, and Cheryl (Paul Vines) Nash NM; Sisters: Jacalyn (Don) Collin IL, Jill (Jim) Locke IL, and Kara (Tom) Butts IL; Brothers: Jay (Barb) Grizzle IL, and Jon (Shari) Grizzle AR.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Ethel Mae Grizzle; son, Michael B. Doyle; and brother, Kris Grizzle.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m., Wednesday, September 6, 2023, at Conley Funeral Home, 116 W. Pierce St., Elburn, IL 60119. Additional visitation will be from 10-11 with a Mass to celebrate Karla’s life will be held at 11 a.m., September 7, 2023 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, 123 S. 1. Mike and rest of the family- I am truly so sorry for your loss of Karla. Hold those special memories close to your heart. Someday we’ll meet our loved ones with open arms and everlasting love. Karla was very unique person to know. At Emily’s bridal shower, I went over by her. And we chatted quite a bit. We said to each other that we always heard we look like our moms. And we chatted about other things. She always had a smile on her face when we would see each other. I will miss you, Karla. I know you’ll be smiling down on everyone. Have a great and fun time in heaven. Have a dance with my parents for me. Dance away from my friend. This is not a good bye. It’s see you later.

  2. Karla and I shared many years working together at Executive Affiliates. Being incredibly dedicated to her job, she also brought fun to the office when she organized the annual football pools for everyone to participate. We always looked forward to our “out to lunch Fridays,” and she would be so happy and surprised when we would run into her mom and dad also lunching. She was a beautiful, caring and loyal person who is truly missed. She has had a long row to hoe. Rest in peace, dear Karla.

  3. I worked with Karla many years ago at Impact Industries. My friend and I were just talking about her last week. She was the sweetest and most kind person and always had a smile. Condolences to the family and prayers.

  4. Grizzle/Nash families,
Sorry to hear of Karla’s passing. May she rest in peace. My brother Randy Rieckert also gives his condolences. Sorry we can’t make the visitation, but know you are all in our thoughts and prayers.

  5. Dear Mike and Family,
The picture of Karla is beautiful!
She has a wonderful smile and that’s how I will remember her.
I hope your memories of Karla bring endless peace and comfort.
When I think of Karla I see her beautiful smile, her strength and sense of humor. Whenever I’ve had the opportunity to be with Karla and her sisters, wonderful childhood stories are always shared. I loved how Jackie, Jill and Kara would refer to Karla as:
    “ Karla, she’s the oldest!”
I will think of Karla walking on her property and working in her flower garden. She certainly must have a feeling of freedom now that her body can’t keep her down.
We are so sorry for your loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
    Sincerely,
    Mickie and Kevin Novorolsky
