Date of Birth

December 15, 1926

Date of Death

February 3, 2024

Marilyn Ruth Scott Wiesbrock, 97, of Sugar Grove, IL was called by her Heavenly Father on February 3, 2024. Marilyn was born on December 15, 1926 in Berwyn, IL, the first child of J.G. Scott Sr. and Julia Scott (nee Tomlinson).

Being in charge came naturally to Marilyn.  If her life was a movie, you could guarantee she would be sitting in the director’s chair.  From excelling in sports that she was told only boys could play, to finagling her way into getting free horseback riding lessons in exchange for barn chores, if she wanted to do something she was going to find a way.  She attended the school of nursing but ultimately found her calling to be a flight attendant for United Airlines.  Flying around the world was to become the next thrill in her life.  Once returning home, Marilyn shared her passion for horses with her family and they soon came to love horses as much as she did.  Now that everyone was on board Marilyn’s parents founded and built a racing legacy by breeding and raising derby and stakes winning thoroughbreds on Scottdale Farm in Wheaton, IL. On the farm is where Marilyn would meet her future husband, Edward Wiesbrock. They would go on to build a full life together raising five well-loved children; Thomas, Michael, Matthew, Judy, and Anne. While Ed was developing Scottdale Farm, the successful thoroughbred breeding operation, Marilyn studied to be a real estate agent and found her niche in the workplace as a real estate agent and broker. She was a million-dollar saleswoman numerous times in her career and took pride in finding her clients the best value for their dollar whether she was listing or selling a home. When not working, Marilyn would help on the farm, running their home, raising their family, and making certain everyone and everything was handled properly.  She was an avid, rule following, card player who would love to host bridge parties, play dominos with her grandchildren, or even a game of solitaire. Once retired Marilyn loved to split her time between their farm in Sugar Grove, Illinois and Tarpon Springs, Florida.  She played golf, fished, read, played cards, cheered on her beloved Chicago Cubs and made friends at every bend.  She was always quick to introduce new friends to her constant companion Tiger. Throughout her life she was a force to be reckoned with. You knew how she felt, what she thought, and where she stood. She ruled with an iron fist. Marilyn was, if anything, consistently fierce, loyal, and strong, a mother, friend, grandma, and a one-of-a-kind human.  There is no doubt she will be socializing and hosting parties in heaven with all her family, friends, and her forever savior, her Lord Jesus Christ.

She is  Survived by her children; son Thomas (Leslye) Wiesbrock and their children Chris (Ryan) Wiesbrock, Katie Wiesbrock, Luke (Meghan) Wiesbrock,  and Nick Wiesbrock, son Michael Wiesbrock and his children Ryan (Amanda) Goodman, Megan Wiesbrock, Alexa Wiesbrock, and Julia Wiesbrock, son Matthew Wiesbrock and his children Ashley (Joe) Bolton, Lindsay (Chris) Younglove, Carley (Mike Bertrand) Wiesbrock, and Allie Wiesbrock  daughter Judy Wiesbrock and her children Marilyn Fabrizius, Ben (Alice) Fabrizius, Olivia (Tanner) Creasy, Grace (Austin) Creasy, and daughter Anne (Edward) Gorenz and their children Sally Gorenz, Joe Gorenz, Mike Gorenz, Catherine (Maxx Miller) Gorenz, and Brad Gorenz, 14 Great Grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

Marilyn is reunited with her parents; J.G. Scott Sr. and Julia Scott, her husband of 46 years Ed Wiesbrock, and her siblings; John “Jack” (Helen), Grant Scott Jr., Robert (Merry May), and Roberta (Robert) Head.

  4. My Aunt Marilyn was a wonderful person who helped me with understanding about horses and a farm. Our families were close, and we would go up north to our cabin on Mercer Lake in Northern Wisconsin. One memory of her was a time that Mike, Matt and my brother Terry and I would swim out to the middle of the lake. Aunt Marilyn was not happy and whipped me and my brother for taking her kids out so far. I learned my lesson. She was fierce, but also wonderful lady who was great at cards and understood younger kids. I know Aunt Marilyn will be playing cards with my mom and Dad in Heaven. Bless you all.

  5. Sending our deepest condolences as you remember your loved one. Sincerely, Three Oaks Family

  6. We met Marilyn at Innisbrook—and she was a force! Tough as nails with a heart as big as can be—.We loved talking with her and kidding around—she could hold her own with anyone and was intimidated by no one. She loved her family fiercely and loved sharing stories about them . She and Tiger ruled. She was loved dearly and is sorely missed by us. Deepest condolences to Ann and the rest of her family—she left her mark on all of us.

    1. Dear Sandee and Columbo, What a wonderful and loving note, thank you! It made me chuckle, she was fierce and a pussycat for sure. She sure enjoyed her friends and life at Innisbrook. Blessed she had you as friends and made such great memories and wonderful stories together. Thank you for keeping her in your thoughts and prayers. Stay well and in touch. Truly, Anne.

  7. My Great Grandmother was the best she never gave up on people. I knew I could always go talk to her I love her so much. I wish I got to meet my great grand Father but sadly he passed away so now she will be able too see him in heaven.

  8. When I met Marilyn, I thought what a strong woman. She was stern with her words but had a heart of gold. If you were a friend of her family, you were part of her family. I would visit on occasion and she always had good advice especially when I was fighting my cancer…always stay strong she would say. What a legacy and what a family she has raised. You live on in all your children and their children. Don’t give everyone a hard time up their. Fly high until we see you again.

  9. My prayers are with the family l am glad that the Lord gave me a chance to meet Marilyn. She always had me laughing about something. I hope she and the Lord are doing the same thing. Norma

    1. Thank you sweet Norma, I am certain she’s up there in heaven reorganizing and trying to take over leadership or somethin…. She did love being the boss lady… in a good way of course. I’m glad you were able to meet her cause that means I was able to meet you! You always bring me joy when we meet. Thank you Norma for being such a kind, caring and loving woman. Stay in touch!🥰 Anne

  10. Anne and Tom, my condolences to both of you and your families. I have wonderful memories of our time with Marilyn and her beloved Tiger at Innisbrook. She welcomed her friends on their arrival with her ‘secret recipe chocolate chip cookies’, hosted parties that introduced us to her wide circle of friends, and walked the golf courses each day with Tiger and Ebony. Her stories about her children and grandchildren, her travels on freighter ships and her days as a flight attendant… or was it a stewardess ….. gave me insight into this strong, opinionated and caring friend. I think of her often…she did enrich my winters at Innisbrook. I’m sure she was delighted that she outlived Queen Elizabeth! RIP dear Marilyn.
