NAME Paul J. Drury, age 83, of Aurora, passed away at his home surrounded by the love of his wife, Monday, November 26, 2007. BORN: He was born October 11, 1924, the son of Leverette and Eleanor (Scott) Drury in St. Charles, IL. EDUCATION: He attended local schools and enlisted into the United States Marines in 1941. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to civilian life in 1945. MARRIAGE Paul lost his first wife Helen to Multiple Sclerosis before finding love once again in Shirley Ward. They were united in marriage in Stevens Point, WI, July 12, 1983. RESIDENTIAL HISTORY: They made life and their home in Aurora for 28 years. OCCUPATION / WORK HISTORY Paul worked for Naperville School District as a custodian for twenty years before "retiring" in 1989. He spent the next fifteen years driving for the Heartland Blood Center until he finally took some time for himself by officially retiring in June of 2005. LIFE NOTES Paul loved his common man and enjoyed making friends and memories with everyone he met. He and Shirley enjoyed working together refinishing furniture for many years. No job was too small as they took on bedroom and dining sets including a Harvest Round Oak Table with twelve leaves that when put together took up their entire dining room. SURVIVORS He now leaves his loving wife of twenty- four years, Shirley, Two sisters:Beverly Smith and Jackie Lovekin, both of Florida; One son, Paul E. Drury of Florida,One step-son, David (Tammy) Dreves of Clare, IL Several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.PRECEDED He now joins his parents, his first wife Helen, one son Timothy Drury, one sister, Naomi Ward , one great-granddaughter Brooklyn Drury, and one sister-in-law Eleanor Kay Choiniere who preceded him in death. VISITATION / FUNERAL Private family services will be held at a later date following cremation. MEMORIAL A memorial has been established in his name.
